Counseling Corner for
Marriage and Family Therapy, P.C., offers
therapeutic services that are brief and
collaborative in nature so that everyone
involved participates in making the change
necessary to move forward. Our goal is to
disrupt negative patterns in an individual's
or the family's life, and incorporate new
ways for dealing with issues and relating
better.
Whether we are working
with an individual or a family, our focus is
on the context in which the client(s) exist.
We never see the individual as existing in a
vacuum and believe interactions with others
are significant to understanding the
individual responses and why an issue
unresolved. Knowing who is involved
and how they are involved helps a person to
see his/her own part and begin making
changes for the greater whole. We
encourage a collaborative approach to change
and help our clients to invite this
collaboration within their relationships.
Sessions begin with
meeting the individual or family members.
For an initial meeting we encourage others
to join the session (i.e., spouse/partner,
children, siblings, and parents), depending
on the type of therapy one seeks (i.e.,
individual, family, couple, or group). From
that point the therapist will work with the
individual or family to establish goals for
treatment.

Common issues that we work with
include:
Parenting, Adolescent Issues, Work
and Family Stressors, Re-Marriage,
Divorce, Parenting through divorce,
Anxiety/Depression in related to a
relationship or in a relationship,
Single Parent Household Issues,
Grief/Loss, Self-Esteem, Drug and
Alcohol Issues
and Anger/Stress Management.
